Training Requests and Completing Training

Step 1 - Requesting Training or Other Learning Assignments

If a learning and development activity is on your personal, let's say, Career Learning Plan and you do not want it on your Departmental Individual Development Plan, then you do not want to formally use "Training Workflow-The Required Process to Have Training Approved" to request the training.

You should include "free" training and coaching, mentoring, special projects, and other types of developmental assignments on your Training Record by having them approved through Training Workflow, which you can access by going to ESS http://mis.doe.gov/ess/.

Step 2 - Closing Out Training - Evaluation and Continued Service Agreements

When your learning and development assignment is completed it is not over. You need to wrap it up first for yourself and second to meet DOE requirements. At the end of the training, the instructor should ask you to complete an evaluation form that asks you to assess the actual training itself. When you return to work you need to complete a Training Evaluation Form and discuss it with your supervisor before forwarding it to your office's Training Consultant so that training event can be closed out.
