Taking Training

In order to be registered for a Training Event, employees must make a request using Training Workflow, a portion of the Corporate Human Resources Information System (CHRIS). Once an employee makes a request for training, it is given approval (or disapproval) from an employee's management chain, and is then forwarded to ETS for processing.

DOE Federal Employees can take a variety of training, and are not limited to course offerings listed in the ETS Course Catalog. The steps in requesting and processing training actions are:

  1. An employee, or said employee's organization, determines there is a need for training.
  2. Per Step 1, training is identified to meet this need.
  3. An employee creates a Training Request using the CHRIS system.
  4. The request is routed through an employees approval chain, and is forwarded to ETS upon receiving organizational approval.
  5. Once a request is received by ETS, it is reviewed by one of ETS' Training Consultants, and sent to a Training Processor for final action.
  6. Once the request has been received by a Training Processor, the requesting employee is registered for training.
  7. A confirmation letter, giving the details of the training and instructions concerning cancelling the training are sent to the employee.
  8. After the training event is completed, the employee fills out an evaluation form and emails it to ETS.

If you need assistance in registering for a training class, or have questions regarding the process itself, you can contact your organization's Training Consultant.
