Entry-Level Positions through the DOE Corporate Career Intern Program

As a participant in the DOE Career Intern Program (CIP), you will participate in an intensive 2-year program that will “jump start” your career with DOE and develop your potential for future advancement. The DOE Career Intern Program offers full-time development in positions that lead to permanent employment. We are accepting applications for the following positions:

  • Budget Analyst, GS-560-9
  • Program Analyst, GS-344-9
  • Accountant, GS-501-5/7/9
  • Contract Specialist, GS-1102-7/9/11
  • General Engineer or Physical Scientist, GS-1301-7/9/11
  • Operations Research Analyst, GS-1515-9/11/12
  • IT Management, GS-2210-9/11/12
  • Economist, GS-110 9/11/12
  • Mathematical Statistician, GS-1529-5/7/9

How Do I Apply?

If you are interested and feel you meet our qualification requirements, you may be considered for a CIP position by completing a questionnaire and submitting your resume in our CIP database. Qualification Requirements

  • US Citizenship
  • For Program Analyst and Budget Analyst positions, you must possess a Masters degree from an accredited university or a Bachelors degree combined with a minimum of 3 years work experience in a related field
  • For the Accounting position, you must possess a Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field such as Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
  • A background check will be required

Key Development Components

  • Rotational assignments may include assignments in different parts of the DOE organization including program offices, field sites or national labs both domestically and internationally. If the rotation is to a different geographic location, DOE will pay the necessary travel expenses.
  • An Individual Development Plan, to serve as a road map for your professional and personal development during the program and beyond.
  • Formal classroom and web based training, leadership skills, technical or business proficiency, and advancement potential.
  • Ongoing on-the-job training, mentoring, career development, and performance feedback.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, you may be eligible for conversion to permanent status.

Salaries & Benefits

Starting Salary: GS-5 salary = $31,751 to $41,271
Starting Salary: GS-7 salary = $39,330 to $51,124
Starting Salary: GS-9 salary = $48,108 to $62,546
Position Promotional Potential: GS-12 salary = $69,764 to $90,698
